Apple Macs can now catch Word Macro Malware and Viruses

The first macro based Word document malware has now been discovered that ¬†can attack Apple Mac computers. It’s suspected that it originates in Russia.

What can this do?

  • Monitor webcams
  • Access browser history logs
  • Steal password and encryption keys.

Researchers have also discovered a virus called MacDownloader that spoofs A BitDefender Adware Removal tool and a Flash Update. It appears as a prompt to install a Flash Update. Clicking anything will launch the malware. It is designed to attack defense industry computers.
